     Sir Benjamin Ayloffe, 2nd Bt. was baptised on 29 August 1592 at Hornchurch, Essex, England^G.¹ He was the son of Sir William Ayloffe, 1st Bt. and Catherine Sterne.¹ He married, firstly, Alice Archdale, daughter of Martin Archdale and Barbara Sexton, circa 1611.¹ He married, secondly, Margaret Fanshawe, daughter of Thomas Fanshawe and Joan Smith, on 9 May 1616 at Barking, Essex, England^G.¹ He married, thirdly, Margaret Porter, daughter of unknown Porter, before 1662.¹ He died circa March 1662.^1,2 He was buried on 25 March 1662 at Braxted, Essex, England^G.^1,2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Ayloffe, of Braxted Magna, co. Essex [E., 1611] on 5 August 1627, then ‘of Great Braxted, co. Essex.¹‘ He held the office of Sheriff of Essex.¹ He adhered to King Charles I, and was subsequently imprisoned, with his estates sequestered.¹ On 29 May 1649 he was fined £2,000, increased to £3,000.¹ He lived at Braxted, Essex, England^G.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Essex from 1661 to 1662.¹

     Alice Archdale was born in 1581.¹ She was the daughter of Martin Archdale and Barbara Sexton.^2,1 She married Sir Benjamin Ayloffe, 2nd Bt., son of Sir William Ayloffe, 1st Bt. and Catherine Sterne, circa 1611.² She died circa November 1612, without male issue, but with one daughter.^2,3 She was buried on 28 November 1612 at Hornchurch, Essex, England^G.²
     She was also known as Alice Avondale.² From circa 1611, her married name became Ayloffe.²

     Martin Archdale was the son of John Archdale and Anne (?)¹ He married Barbara Sexton, daughter of Thomas Sexton, on 13 June 1575.¹ He died on 25 December 1597.¹
     He lived at All Hallows, Barking-by-the-Tower, London, England^G.¹ He was also known as Martin Avondale.² He purchased Abbotts Hall, Darsham, Suffolk, England^G, in 1593.¹ He purchased three other manors in Darsham later.¹ He was a merchant.¹

     Margaret Fanshawe was the daughter of Thomas Fanshawe and Joan Smith.¹ She married Sir Benjamin Ayloffe, 2nd Bt., son of Sir William Ayloffe, 1st Bt. and Catherine Sterne, on 9 May 1616 at Barking, Essex, England^G.¹
     From 9 May 1616, her married name became Ayloffe.¹

     Thomas Fanshawe married, secondly, Joan Smith, daughter of Thomas Smith.¹
     He held the office of Remembrancer of the Exchequer.¹ He lived at Jenkins, Barking, Essex, England^G.¹

     Joan Smith was the daughter of Thomas Smith.¹ She married Thomas Fanshawe.¹
     Her married name became Fanshawe.¹

     Thomas Smith lived at Ostenhanger, Kent, England^G.¹

     Margaret Porter was the daughter of unknown Porter.¹ She married, firstly, Sir Benjamin Ayloffe, 2nd Bt., son of Sir William Ayloffe, 1st Bt. and Catherine Sterne, before 1662.¹ She and John Wall obtained a marriage license on 3 December 1666.¹ She died circa February 1681/82.¹ Her will (dated 15 September 1681 to 20 January 1681/2) was proven (by probate) on 13 March 1681/82.¹
     From before 1662, her married name became Ayloffe.¹ From 3 December 1666, her married name became Wall.¹
