     He was awarded the Albert Medal (A.M.) in 1928.¹ He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1959.¹

     Sylvia Beatrice Staveley was born in 1903 at Plymouth, Devon, England^G.² She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Charles Russell Staveley and Mabel Bulteel.^1,2 She married Rear-Admiral Reginald William Armytage, son of Brig.-Gen. Sir George Ayscough Armytage, 7th Bt. and Aimée Milborne-Swinnerton-Pilkington, on 27 October 1928.¹ She died on 27 July 1996.¹
     From 27 October 1928, her married name became Armytage.¹

     Lt.-Col. Charles Russell Staveley was born in 1868 at India.² He was the son of General Sir Charles William Dunbar Staveley and Susan Millicent Minet.³ He married Mabel Bulteel, daughter of John Bulteel and Euphemia Emily Parsons, on 20 September 1899.¹ He died on 25 January 1939.¹
     He lived at Pamflete, Devon, England^G.⁴ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.¹
