Hon. Sir Joshua Peter Bell was born on 19 January 1827 at County Kildare, Ireland.3 He was the son of Thomas Bell and Sarah Alexander.3 He married Margaret Miller Dorsey, daughter of Dr. William McTaggart Dorsey and Margaret Douglas, on 19 February 1861.3 He died on 20 December 1881 at age 54.3
