     He was a member of the House of Wittelsbach.2 Ludwig II Herzog von Oberbayern also went by the nick-name of Ludwig ‘the Severe’.2 He succeeded as the Herzog von Oberbayern in 1253.1

     He succeeded as the Herzog von Österreich in 1282.1 He succeeded as the Emperor Albrecht I of the Holy Roman Empire in 1298.1
