Sir George Vane1 
Sir George Vane was baptised on 10 May 1618 at Shipborne, Kent, England.3 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Henry Vane the Elder and Frances d‘Arcy.1 He married Elizabeth Maddison, daughter of Sir Lionel Maddison.1 He died circa 28 April 1679.3 He was buried on 1 May 1679.3
He was appointed Knight on 22 November 1640.1 He seized and defended Raby Castle (his father’s property) for the King during the earlier part of Cromwell’s rebellion.3 He lived at Long Newton, County Durham, England.3 He was the ancestor of the Vanes of Hutton Hall, Cumberland.1
