     Robert Simpson was born on 28 December 1814.¹ He was the son of John Simpson and Anne Bell.¹ He married, firstly, Joanna Young, daughter of John Young, on 17 September 1836.¹ He married, secondly, Caroline Armstrong, daughter of Edward Armstrong, on 10 September 1874.¹ He died on 11 January 1894 at age 79.¹
     He lived at Moor House, Ryton, County Durham, England.¹
