     Colonel Henry Caversham Simonds was born on 26 April 1867 at The Old Rectory, Caversham, Berkshire, England.¹ He was the son of Henry John Simonds and Julia Victoria Pilati.¹ He married, firstly, Ellen Matthey, daughter of John James Matthey, on 19 September 1889 at Kensington, London, England.¹ He married, secondly, Christian Mary Wynter in March 1911 at London, England.¹ He died on 25 June 1918 at age 51 at Hawkridge House, Bucklebury, Berkshire, England.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Berkshire Imperial Yeomanry.¹

     Ellen Matthey is the daughter of John James Matthey.² She married Colonel Henry Caversham Simonds, son of Henry John Simonds and Julia Victoria Pilati, on 19 September 1889 at Kensington, London, England.¹
