     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹

     Mary Eliza Caddell is the daughter of W. M. Caddell.¹ She married Lt.-Col. Marmaduke Charles Lawson, son of Andrew Lawson and Marianne Anna Maria Gooch, on 6 January 1870.¹
     From 6 January 1870, her married name became Lawson.¹

     W. M. Caddell was with the Madras Civil Service.¹
