     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Fife between 1900 and 1910.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddington between 1911 and 1918.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Beriwck and Haddington between 1918 and 1922.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for East Lothian.¹

     Elizabeth Holms-Kerr was the daughter of Robert Kerr Holms-Kerr.¹ She married John Deans Hope, son of James Hope and Isabella Frances Deans, on 29 March 1899.¹ She died on 9 July 1954.¹
     From 29 March 1899, her married name became Hope.¹
