     Commander James Charles Prevost was born on 31 July 1810 at Bedhampton, Hampshire, England.2 He was the son of Rear-Admiral James Prevost and Frances Sophia Haultain.1 He married Ellen Mary Moresby, daughter of Admiral Sir Fairfax Moresby and Eliza Louisa Williams, on 18 October 1842 at Newton Ferrars, Devon, England.2 He died on 21 January 1891 at age 80 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.2
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.1
