     Most Rev. John Dolben was born on 20 March 1625.1 He was the son of Dr. William Dolben and Elizabeth Williams.1 He married Catherine Sheldon, daughter of Ralph Sheldon, in 1657.1 He died in 1686.1
     He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the King’s Army.1 He fought in the English Civil War.1 He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)1 He held the office of Archbishop of York between 1683 and 1686.1
