     Charles Erskine was born on 23 October 1716.¹ He was the son of Charles Erskine of Alva, Lord Tinwald and Grizel Grierson.¹ He died on 25 June 1749 at age 32, unmarried.¹
     He was a practising barrister.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ayr Burghs between 1747 and 1749.¹

     Margaret Macguire was the daughter of Hugh Macguire.¹ She married James Erskine, Lord Alva, son of Charles Erskine of Alva, Lord Tinwald and Grizel Grierson, on 19 June 1749.¹ She died in 1766.¹
     From 19 June 1749, her married name became Erskine.¹

     Hugh Macguire lived at Drumdow, Ayrshire, Scotland.¹

     Jean Stirling was the daughter of John Stirling.¹ She married, secondly, James Erskine, Lord Alva, son of Charles Erskine of Alva, Lord Tinwald and Grizel Grierson.¹ She married, firstly, Sir James Stirling of Glorat, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Mungo Stirling, 2nd Bt. and Barbara Corbet, in 1728.¹ She died on 13 May 1796.²
     Her married name became Erskine.¹

     Sir James Stirling of Glorat, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir Mungo Stirling, 2nd Bt. and Barbara Corbet.² He married, firstly, Jean Stirling, daughter of John Stirling, in 1728.¹ He married, secondly, Martha Luke on 28 January 1728.² He died on 30 April 1771, without issue.²
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Stirling, of Glorat, co. Stirling [N.S., 1666] on 21 April 1712.²

     Christian Carruthers is the daughter of John Carruthers.¹ She married John Erskine, son of James Erskine, Lord Alva and Jean Stirling, on 23 August 1786.¹
     From 23 August 1786, her married name became Erskine.¹

     unknown daughter Tytler is the daughter of Lt.-Col. Patrick Tytler and Isabella Erskine.¹ She married James Erskine of Aberdona, son of John Erskine and Christian Carruthers.¹
     Her married name became Erskine.¹
