Maj.-Gen. Sir William Throsby Bridges1

Maj.-Gen. Sir William Throsby Bridges was born on 18 February 1861 at Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland.3 He was the son of William Wilson Somerset Bridges and Mary Hill Throsby.3 He married Edith Lilian Francis on 10 October 1885 at St. John’s Anglican Church, Darlinghurst, New South Wales, Australia.3 He died on 18 May 1915 at age 54 at Egypt, from wounds received in action.3
He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)1 He was founder of the Australian Imperial Forces.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He fought in the First World War.3 He was commander of the First Australian Division, Australian Imperial Forces.3
