     Hugh Rose was born on 31 October 1767.1 He was the son of Hugh Rose and Mary MacCulloch.1 He married, firstly, Arabella Margarette Phipps, daughter of Colonel Isaac Phipps, on 16 July 1799.1 He married, secondly, Catherine Munro, daughter of Duncan Munro of Culcairn, on 14 February 1815.1 He died on 30 September 1845 at age 77.1
     His name was legally changed to Hugh Ross.2
