James Sandilands, 1st Lord Torphichen1 
He was appointed Knight, Order of St. John in 1530.1 He was Prior of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem in 1546.1 He was created 1st Lord Torphichen, of Saint John of Torphichen, West Lothian [Scotland] on 24 January 1563/64, by a regrant to himself and his heirs and assignees of the lands, estates and offices previously attaching to the office of Prior of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem in Scotland (who had been entitled to a seat in Parliament through holding the feudal barony of Torphichen.)1
