     William Hume Spry was born on 5 December 1727 at West Hundred, Berkshire, England.2 He was the son of John Spry and Jane Hume.3 He married Katharine Cholmeley, daughter of Robert Cholmeley, on 4 July 1770 at St. Michael, Bridgetown, Barbados.4 He died on 3 September 1772 at age 44.4
     He held the office of Governor of Barbados between 1768 and 3 September 1772.1,4

     Katharine Cholmeley was born in 1739.1 She was the daughter of Robert Cholmeley. She married Hamlet Fairchild.1 She married William Hume Spry, son of John Spry and Jane Hume, on 4 July 1770 at St. Michael, Bridgetown, Barbados.1 She died in 1817.1
     Her married name became Fairchild.1 From 4 July 1770, her married name became Spry.1
