James Galbraith, 3rd of Culreuch1

     James Galbraith, 3rd of Culreuch was the son of Arthur Galbraith, 2nd of Culreuch.2 He married unknown daughter Erskine, daughter of Sir Thomas Erskine of that Ilk and Janet Keith.1 He died after 1425.1
     In his time many Galbraiths allegedly rose to help the ex-Regent’s son, Sir James Mor Stewart sack Dumbarton in support of the overthrown Albany and Lennox families, then to have fled with their families (traditionally 600 in all) to Kintyre and the Isle of Gigha, where they adopted the surname MacBhreatnaich/Bretny (‘Son of the Briton’) descendants there as late as the 19th century.1 He held the position of 9th Chief of the Galbraiths from.1
