     George Ross, 10th of Pitcalnie was the son of James Ross of Pitcalnie and Sarah Johnston.2 He married Catherine Gilchrist, daughter of Dugald Gilchrist of Orpisdale, on 1 June 1837.1 He died on 29 August 1884, without issue.1
     He entailed Pitcalnie to his grand-nephew George, subject to taking the Ross of Pitcalnie name and arms.1
