Sir William Paget, 5th Lord Paget (of Beaudesert)1 
He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 1 February 1625/26.1 He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 18 December 1627.1 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Paget, of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 29 August 1628.1 In September 1640 he was one of the popular nobles named by the King to treat with the Scots at Ripon.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire on 2 June 1641.1 He held the office of Keeper of New Lodge Walk, Windsor Forest on 9 February 1642.1 In June 1642 he joined the King at York, and raised a regiment of foot which fought at Edgehill.1 In 1643/44 he was with the King at Oxford.1 In September 1644 he ‘came in’ to the Earl of Essex at Plymouth.1

William Paget, 4th Lord Paget (of Beaudesert)1 
On 27 February 1586/87 after his grandmother’s death, the Queen made him a ward of Sir George Carey.1 He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 31 July 1587.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 25 February 1589/90 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 In 1596 he served on the Cadiz expedition.1 In 1598 he was with Sir Robert Cecil, the English Ambassador in Paris.1 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Paget, of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 19 March 1603/4, after he had his father’s attainder reversed, and his land and titles restored.1 He was admitted to Middle Temple on 20 February 1610/11 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 On 12 March 1611/12 he was a member of the Council of the Virginia Company, and was actively engaged in promoting colonisation and colonial trade.1
