     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.¹

     Caroline Proby was the daughter of Very Rev. Baptist Proby and Mary Russell.² She married Edward Grove, son of William Grove, on 5 July 1792.¹ She died on 2 February 1800, having had issue.¹
     From 5 July 1792, her married name became Grove.¹
