He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He was Gentleman of the Bedchamber to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland between 1844 and 1845.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1845 in the South Down Military.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for County Down between 1845 and 1880.2 In 1862 he inherited the Trevor estates of Brynkinalt, Flints and other property from his third cousin once-removed, 3rd and last Viscount of Dungannon.2 He gained the rank of Major in 1863 in the North Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Denbighshire.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Denbighshire.2 He was created 1st Baron Trevor of Brynkinalt, co. Denbigh [U.K.] on 5 May 1880.2
