     Agnes Birkmyre was born circa 1860 at Kilmalcolm, Renfrewshire, Scotland.² She was the daughter of Henry Birkmyre and Margaret Somerville.^3,2 She married William Todd Lithgow, son of James Lithgow and Margaret McNicol, on 12 February 1879.¹ She died on 12 June 1929.¹
     From 12 February 1879, her married name became Lithgow.

     Sir James Lithgow, 1st Bt. was born on 27 January 1883.¹ He was the son of William Todd Lithgow and Agnes Birkmyre.² He married Gwendolyn Amy Harrison, daughter of John Robinson Harrison, on 11 September 1924.¹ He died on 23 February 1952 at age 69.¹
     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹ He was Director of Merchant Shipbuilding, Admiralty between 1916 and 1919.¹ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He was created 1st Baronet Lithgow, of Ormsary, co. Argyll [U.K.] on 1 July 1925.¹ He was member of the Central Electricity Board between 1927 and 1930.¹ He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire.¹ He was extraordinary directorry of the Royal Bank of Scotland.¹ He was Member of the Board of Admiralty between 1940 and 1946.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1945.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1947.¹ He was awarded the Order of Orange-Nassau of the Netherlands.¹
