Colonel Arthur Richard Lees was born on 18 July 1842.1 He was the son of Sir John Lees, 3rd Bt. and Maria Charlotte Sullivan.2 He married, firstly, Amy Godwin, daughter of Henry Morgan Godwin, on 19 December 1866.1 He married, secondly, Annie Russell Gilbert, daughter of Francis John Gilbert and Mary Anne Russell, on 28 September 1880 at Marylebone, London, England.1,3 He died on 15 September 1887 at age 45.1
He gained the rank of Colonel in the 2nd Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment.1

Lt.-Cdr. John Arnold Lees was born on 31 May 1886.1 He was the son of Colonel Arthur Richard Lees and Amy Godwin.2 He married Katherine Gibbons, daughter of James Gibbons, on 21 October 1913.1 He died on 1 November 1914 at age 28, lost in H.M.S. Monmouth in action off Chile.1
