John Christopher Mansel was born on 1 September 1813.1 He was the son of Rear-Admiral Robert Mansel and Frances Charlotta Thorold.2 He married Katherine Margaret Mansel, daughter of Reverend Henry Longueville Mansel and Maria Margaret Moorsom, on 28 June 1853.1 He died on 27 May 1895 at age 81.1
