     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹

     William John Alexander Halford Auchinleck was born on 8 August 1899.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Henry Auchinleck and Constance Mildred Spilsbury Halford.^2,1 He married Norine Evelyn Murphy, daughter of Major unknown Murphy, on 19 June 1922.¹ He died on 8 December 1961 at age 62.¹
     He gained the rank of officer between 1916 and 1921 in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.¹ He lived between 1927 and 1948 at India^G.¹ He lived between 1950 and 1961 at Kenya^G.¹

     Major unknown Murphy gained the rank of Major in the Royal Army Medical Corps.¹
