Colonel John Carleton1

     Colonel John Carleton was the son of Richard Carleton and Elinor Drew.1 He married Jane Stratford, daughter of Robert Stratford and Mary Walsh, circa 1695.1 He died in 1730.1
     In 1705 he purchased Butler’s Land (later Clare) from Hollow-Sword Blade Company, and also obtained Bardenshill, County Tipperary (a forfeited estate.)1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Tipperary in 1717.1 He lived at Darlinghill, County Tipperary, IrelandG.1
