     Edward Vere Dashwood was born on 25 June 1846.1 He was the son of Reverend Samuel Vere Dashwood and Edith Elizabeth Hawkshaw.2 He married Laura Frederica Penelope Crofts, daughter of Major Edmund Crofts, in 1888.1 He died on 15 May 1919 at age 72.1
     He was County Treasurer of Hampshire.1

     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Sussex Regiment.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1
