     Colonel I. Manners Smith, V.C. was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.)¹ He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.)¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Indian Army.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.)¹

     Sylvia Smith is the daughter of Colonel I. Manners Smith, V.C.² She married Major Denis Leonard Stafford Northcote, son of Major Leonard Augustus Stafford Northcote and Lilian Cora van Praagh, in 1929.¹
