     Reverend James Laurence Cotter was born in 1783.1 He was the son of Reverend George Sackville Cotter and Margaret Rogers.2 He married, firstly, Matilda Sampayo, daughter of Antonio Texeira Sampayo and Frances Greatrakes, in September 1807.1 He married, secondly, Harriet Louisa Carleton, daughter of Reverend Edward Carleton, in 1827.1 He died in September 1850.1
     He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 At Buttevant, County Cork, IrelandG, the Vicar.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1

     Colonel George Sackville Cotter was born on 17 June 1808.1 He was the son of Reverend James Laurence Cotter and Matilda Sampayo.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Butler, daughter of Reverend William Butler, in 1831.1,3 He married, secondly, Agnes Kilgour, daughter of Martin Kilgour, on 1 August 1836.1 He married, thirdly, Katharine Mann, daughter of Abraham Mann, on 14 January 1850.1 He died on 25 June 1878 at age 70.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Madras Artillery.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
