He was a practising solicitor between 1888 and 1903.1 He was chairman of George Newnes Ltd., C. Arthur Pearson Ltd. and News of the World Ltd.1 He was a director of Country Life Ltd., Newnes and Pearson Printing Company Ltd. and W. H. Collingridge and Company Ltd.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1909.1 He was a liaision officer between the Government and the Press between 1914 and 1918.1 He was created 1st Baronet Riddell [U.K.] on 31 January 1918.1 He was created 1st Baron Riddell, of Walton Heath, co. Surrey [U.K.] on 28 January 1920.1 He wrote the book Some Things That Matter, published 1922.1 He wrote the book More Things that Matter, published 1925.1 He wrote the book Dame Louisa Aldrich-Blake, published 1926.1 He wrote the book Looking Round, published 1928.1 He wrote the book Medico-Legal Problems, published 1929.1 He wrote the book Lord Riddell’s War Diary, 1914-18, published 1933.1 He wrote the book Lord Riddell’s Intimate Diary of the Peace Conference and After, published 1933.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1
