     Maj.-Gen. James Ramsay was born on 3 October 1808.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Hon. John Ramsay and Mary Delise.1 He married Florence Harriet Charlotte Burlton-Bennett, daughter of William Robert Burlton-Bennett, on 3 February 1840.1 He died on 26 December 1868 at age 60.1
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Bengal Army.1
