Peter Carmichael, 4th of Balmedie1 
On 5 July 1542 he had a Charter of the lands pf Whelphill, Lanarkshire.1 In 1545 he made a claim in to be heir to his kinsman Peter Carmichael of Dron.1 In 1546 he was forfeited with Norman Leslie, for his share in the capture of of the Castle of St. Andrews and the murder of Cardinal Beaton.1 He afterwards served in the galleys with John Knox and was imprisoned on Mont Saint Michel with the Master of Rothes, Kirkaldy of Grange and others, but escaped with Grange, disguised as a professional medicant.1
David Carmichael, 5th of Balmedie1 
He held the office of Heritable Baillie of Abernethy between 1545 and 1580.2 On 29 May 1546 he was implicated with his elder brother Peter in the murder of Cardinal Beaton.1

Theobald Taaffe, 1st Earl of Carlingford1 
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Sligo [Ireland] in 1639.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron of Ballymote, co. Sligo [I., 1628] in 1642. He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Taaffe of Corren, co. Sligo [I., 1628] in 1642.1 In 1644 he was in command of the rebel Roman Catholic Irish forces in Connaught.1 He held the office of Governor of Munster in 1646.1 He fought in the Battle of Mallow on 13 November 1647, where he was severely defeated by Lord Inchiquin.1 He held the office of Master of the Ordnance in 1649.1 He actively supported the Royal cause in Ireland, and was excepted from pardon by Cromwell’s Act of Settlement.1 He was created 1st Earl of Carlingford, co. Louth [Ireland] on 26 June 1661.1 His last will was dated 29 September 1677.

He graduated from St. Leonard’s College, St. Andrew’s University, St. Andrews, Fife, ScotlandG, on 3 December 1584.1 He was the Minister in 1595 at Newburn, ScotlandG.1 He was the Minister in 1603 at Kilconquhar, Fife, ScotlandG.1 In 1606 he was one of the eight Ministers summoned by King James to London to confer with him on the affairs of the Kirk.1 He was the Minister on 15 October 1620 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
