Edward Gibbon was born on 27 April 1737.3 He was the son of Edward Gibbon and Judith Porten.1,3 He died on 16 January 1794 at age 56.3
He wrote the book The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, published between 1776 and 1788.3 He was a noted historian.1

Shropshire [U.K., 1869] on 19 June 1902.
