     Sir Richard Burbidge, 1st Bt. was born on 2 March 1847.1 He was the son of George Bishop Burbidge and Elizabeth Clarke.1 He married, firstly, Emily Woodman, daughter of Jeremiah Woodman, on 9 May 1868.1 He married, secondly, Lilian Precce, daughter of John Ambrose Precce, on 23 August 1910.2 He died on 31 May 1917 at age 70.2
     He was director of the Hudson’s Bay Company.1 He was managing director of Harrods between 1890 and 1917.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the County of London.1 He was Lord of the Manors of Littleton and Astlam.1 He was created 1st Baronet Burbidge, of Littleton, co. Middlesex [U.K.] on 25 January 1916.1
