He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Browne [Ireland, 1726] on 26 June 1757, Jacobite.1 He succeeded as the Graf von Browne [Holy Roman Empire, 1716] on 26 June 1757.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of Maria Theresa of Austria (K.M.T.)1 He gained the rank of Field Marshal Lieutenant in the Imperial Service.1
On his death, all of his honours became extinct.3

Lincoln [E., 1677] on 25 July 1734.2 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1739 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)3 He was admitted to Middle Temple on 26 November 1742 entitled to practise as a Barrister.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Grantham between 1743 and 1770.3 He held the office of Clerk of the Household between 1747 and 1751, to Frederick, Prince of Wales.3 He held the office of Steward of the Household in 1751, to the Dowager Princess of Wales.3 He held the office of Clerk of the Household between 1751 and 1760, to George, Prince of Wales.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1759 in the South Battalion, Lincolnshire Militia.3 He held the office of Speaker of the House of Commons between 3 November 1761 and 19 January 1770.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 24 January 1762.3 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4

Etheldred Payne was born circa 1720.3 She was the daughter of Thomas Payne and Elizabeth Folkes.1,4 She married Rt. Hon. Sir John Cust, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Richard Cust, 2nd Bt. and Anne Brownlow, on 8 December 1743.4 She died on 22 January 1775.3 She was buried at Belton, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.3 Her will was proven (by probate) in February 1775.3
From 8 December 1743, her married name became Cust.

John Hume Egerton, Viscount Alford was born on 15 October 1812.1 He was the son of John Cust, 1st Earl Brownlow and Amelia Sophia Hume.1 He was baptised on 17 November 1812 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, EnglandG.1 He married Lady Marianne Margaret Compton, daughter of Spencer Joshua Alwyne Compton, 2nd Marquess of Northampton and Margaret Douglas-Maclean-Clephane, on 10 February 1841 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 3 January 1851 at age 38 at Ashridge Park, Berkhamsted, EnglandG.1 He was buried on 13 January 1851 at Little Gaddesden, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1
He was given the name of John Hume Cust at birth.1 He was styled as Viscount Alford between 1815 and 1851.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1833 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Bedfordshire between 1835 and 1851.1 He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 25 June 1838.1 On 12 September 1839 his name was legally changed to John Hume Home-Cust by Royal Licence.1 On 15 March 1849 his name was legally changed to John Hume Egerton by Royal Licence, on inheriting the huge estates of the Egertons from the Dowager Countess of Bridgwater.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the North Lincolnshire Militia.3
