     Commander Gregory Stapleton was born on 30 January 1864.2 He was the son of Bryan John Stapleton and Mary Helen Alicia Dolman.2 He married Marie Marcella Josephine MacDermott, daughter of Anthony MacDermott, on 29 February 1904.2 He died on 6 June 1938 at age 74.2
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Angelsey.2 He was Captain Superintendent, Lighthouse Service, Ceylon in 1907.2 He was Nautical Assessor, Ceylon in 1908.2 He was commander of the Special Armed Constabulary during the riots in 1915 at Sri Lanka.2 He was Naval Attaché to Lisbon in 1918.2 He was awarded the Commander, Military Order of Avis of Portugal.2 He was Captain, Port of Holyhead between 1919 and 1934.2 He held the office of Younger Brother, Trinity House.2
