William Howard, 3rd Baron Howard of Escrick1 
He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was an Anabaptist preacher.2 He gained the rank of Trooper in the Life Guards, for Oliver Cromwell.2 In 1658 he plotted to restore the monarchy and was sent to prison.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Winchelsea in 1660.2 He sided with Titus Oates and gave currency to his baseless accusations.2 He was involved in the Rye House Plot, but informed against his co-conspirators.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Howard of Escrick, co. York [E., 1628] on 24 August 1678.2
