     William Howard, 3rd Baron Howard of Escrick was the son of Edward Howard, 1st Baron Howard of Escrick and Hon. Mary Boteler.² He married Frances Bridgeman, daughter of Sir James Bridgeman and Anne Allen.¹ He died circa 21 April 1694.¹ He was buried on 24 April 1694.²
     He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.² He was an Anabaptist preacher.² He gained the rank of Trooper in the Life Guards, for Oliver Cromwell.² In 1658 he plotted to restore the monarchy and was sent to prison.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Winchelsea in 1660.² He sided with Titus Oates and gave currency to his baseless accusations.² He was involved in the Rye House Plot, but informed against his co-conspirators.² He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Howard of Escrick, co. York [E., 1628] on 24 August 1678.²
