John James Barclay1

     John James Barclay was the son of James Barclay of Knockleith and Templeland and Mary Anne Barclay.1 He died in 1874, from the wounds received in 1857, unmarried.1
     He was in the Honourable East India Company Service in 1855.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 26 February 1856 in the 1st Madras European Fusiliers.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857.1 He fought in the Havelock’s Columns actions of Mungarwar and Alumbagh.1 He fought in the Siege of Lucknow, in the relief force.1 He gained the rank of Captain on 2 October 1866 in the 102nd Royal Madras Fusiliers.1
