     Gerald William Berkeley Portman, 8th Viscount Portman of Bryanston was born on 20 August 1903.¹ He was the son of Gerald Berkeley Portman, 7th Viscount Portman of Bryanston and Dorothy Marie Isolde Sheffield.¹ He married, firstly, Marjorie Josephine Bentley Gerrard, daughter of George Bentley Gerrard, on 27 January 1926.¹ He and Marjorie Josephine Bentley Gerrard were divorced in 1946.¹ He married, secondly, Nancy Maureen Franklin, daughter of Captain Percy Herbert Franklin, on 11 April 1946.¹ He died on 3 November 1967 at age 64, without issue.¹

     Marjorie Josephine Bentley Gerrard is the daughter of George Bentley Gerrard.¹ She married Gerald William Berkeley Portman, 8th Viscount Portman of Bryanston, son of Gerald Berkeley Portman, 7th Viscount Portman of Bryanston and Dorothy Marie Isolde Sheffield, on 27 January 1926.¹ She and Gerald William Berkeley Portman, 8th Viscount Portman of Bryanston were divorced in 1946.¹
     Her married name became Portman.

     George Bentley Gerrard lived at Montreal, Quebec, Canada^G.¹

     Nancy Maureen Franklin was the daughter of Captain Percy Herbert Franklin.¹ She married Gerald William Berkeley Portman, 8th Viscount Portman of Bryanston, son of Gerald Berkeley Portman, 7th Viscount Portman of Bryanston and Dorothy Marie Isolde Sheffield, on 11 April 1946.¹ She died on 31 December 1998.¹
     From 11 April 1946, her married name became Portman. After her marriage, Nancy Maureen Franklin was styled as Viscountess Portman of Bryanston on 3 September 1948.

     Captain Percy Herbert Franklin lived at Eachways, Ropley, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹
