     Lt.-Col. William Wallace Smith Cuninghame, 16th of Caprington was born on 18 May 1889. He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Anstruther Smith Cuninghame, 15th of Caprington and Violet Mary Slade.¹ He married, firstly, Ella Cutlar Fergusson, 20th of Craigdarroch, daughter of Robert Cutlar Fergusson, 19th of Craigdarroch and Rose Hodgson, on 8 August 1918.¹ He married, secondly, Lady Marjorie Joan Mary Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, daughter of William Charles de Meuron FitzWilliam, 7th Earl Fitzwilliam and Lady Maud Frederica Elizabeth Dundas, on 6 October 1949.¹ He died on 5 July 1959 at age 70.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.¹ He was commissioned in 1908 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Life Guards.¹ He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers in 1911.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 2nd Life Guards.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1919, where he was wounded twice and was mentioned in despatches.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the 10th Scottish Rifles.¹ He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 1st Battalion, King’s Own (Royal Lancaster) Regiment.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Ayrshire in 1922.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Ayrshire in 1929.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 9th Battalion, Chester Regiment.¹

     Ella Cutlar Fergusson, 20th of Craigdarroch was born on 12 October 1889.² She was the daughter of Robert Cutlar Fergusson, 19th of Craigdarroch and Rose Hodgson.^3,1 She married Lt.-Col. William Wallace Smith Cuninghame, 16th of Caprington, son of Lt.-Col. John Anstruther Smith Cuninghame, 15th of Caprington and Violet Mary Slade, on 8 August 1918.³ She died on 22 April 1928 at age 38.³
     Her married name became Smith Cuninghame.

     Lt.-Col. Sir Grismond Picton Philipps was born on 29 May 1898. He is the son of Major Grismond Philipps. He married Lady Marjorie Joan Mary Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, daughter of William Charles de Meuron FitzWilliam, 7th Earl Fitzwilliam and Lady Maud Frederica Elizabeth Dundas, on 4 October 1925. He and Lady Marjorie Joan Mary Wentworth-Fitzwilliam were divorced in 1949.

     Robert Wallace Fergusson-Cuninghame, 17th of Caprington was born on 3 August 1919.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Wallace Smith Cuninghame, 16th of Caprington and Ella Cutlar Fergusson, 20th of Craigdarroch.¹ He married Rosemary Elisabeth Euing Crawford, daughter of Brigadier Alastair Wardrop Euing Crawford, on 23 July 1958.² He died on 24 January 2012 at age 92.³
     He was given the name of Robert Wallace Smith-Cuninghame at birth.¹ He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 2 November 1930.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Artilery Reserve of Officers.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.¹ He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers in 1948.¹ He gained the rank of Major in 1958 in the Ayrshire Yeomanry.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) in 1960.¹

     John Alfred Fergusson-Cuninghame was born on 16 December 1921.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Wallace Smith Cuninghame, 16th of Caprington and Ella Cutlar Fergusson, 20th of Craigdarroch.¹ He married Nella Prudence Blake, daughter of Captain Gerald Stuart Blake, on 22 July 1946.¹ He died on 12 September 2016 at age 94.²
     He was given the name of John Alfred Smith-Cuninghame at birth.¹ He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Artillery Reserve of Officers.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945, where he was wounded.¹ On 15 December 1939 his name was legally changed to John Alfred Fergusson-Cuninghame as heir to his mother.¹ He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 15 December 1939.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹

     Alfred Keith Smith Cuninghame was born on 29 April 1891.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Anstruther Smith Cuninghame, 15th of Caprington and Violet Mary Slade.¹ He died on 25 September 1916 at age 25, killed in action.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹

     Colonel Charles George Slade was born in 1836.¹ He was the son of Sir Frederick William Slade, 2nd Bt. and Barbara Maria Browne-Mostyn.¹ He died on 6 September 1897, unmarried.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.¹ He was Commander of the School of Musketry between 1890 and 1894.¹
