     Sir Hugh Arthur Rose, 1st Bt. was born on 8 September 1875.¹ He was the son of Hugh Rose.¹ He married Mary Weir, daughter of Robert Weir, on 21 February 1901.¹ He died on 14 August 1937 at age 61.¹
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Edinburgh.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Edinburgh.¹ He gained the rank of officer in the 15th Battalion, Royal Scots.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1915 and 1917, where he was mentioned in dispatches.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.¹ He was Division Food Commissioner, East Scotland between 1917 and 1918.¹ He was Food Commissioner for Scotland between 1919 and 1920.¹ He was Director of Edinburgh Education Authority between 1919 and 1920.¹ He was appointed Knight on 10 July 1919.¹ He was Director of Land Settlement Scotland between 1920 and 1922.¹ He was chairman of Board of Control for Scotland between 1922 and 1936.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Rose of Leith, co. of the city of Edinburgh [U.K.] on 2 July 1935.¹

     Sir Hugh Rose, 2nd Bt. was born on 16 December 1902.¹ He was the son of Sir Hugh Arthur Rose, 1st Bt. and Mary Weir.¹ He married Margaret Usher, daughter of Thomas Leslie Usher, on 14 October 1930.¹ He died on 28 September 1976 at age 73.²
     He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹ He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.¹ He was Commissioner General of the Board of Control for Scotland between 1936 and 1962.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Rose, of Leith, co. of teh city of Edinburgh [U.K., 1935] on 14 August 1937.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945, where he was mentioned in dispatches.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Edinburgh in 1958.¹ On his death his baronetcy became extinct.¹

     Mary Weir was the daughter of Robert Weir.¹ She married Sir Hugh Arthur Rose, 1st Bt., son of Hugh Rose, on 21 February 1901.¹ She died on 20 February 1939.¹
     From 21 February 1901, her married name became Rose.¹

     Robert Weir lived at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹

     Frederick Cairns Laing married Mary Catherine Rose, daughter of Sir Hugh Arthur Rose, 1st Bt. and Mary Weir, on 1 June 1932.¹
     He graduated with a Bachelor of Surgery (Ch.B.)¹ He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)¹

     Margaret Alice Rose was born on 25 November 1907.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Hugh Arthur Rose, 1st Bt. and Mary Weir.¹ She married Ian Mackinnon in October 1933.¹ She married H. S. Holman, son of Harry J. Holman, on 8 June 1942.¹
     From October 1933, her married name became Mackinnon.¹ From 8 June 1942, her married name became Holman.¹

     Ian Mackinnon married Margaret Alice Rose, daughter of Sir Hugh Arthur Rose, 1st Bt. and Mary Weir, in October 1933.¹

     H. S. Holman is the son of Harry J. Holman.¹ He married Margaret Alice Rose, daughter of Sir Hugh Arthur Rose, 1st Bt. and Mary Weir, on 8 June 1942.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant (S) in the Royal Navy Reserve.¹
