     Sir James William Ritchie, 1st Bt. was born on 7 August 1868.¹ He was the son of Sir James Thomson Ritchie, 1st and last Bt.¹ He married, firstly, Ada Bevan ap Rees Bryant, daughter of Edward Bevan ap Rees Bryant, on 20 July 1898.² He and Ada Bevan ap Rees Bryant were divorced in 1912.² He married, secondly, Edna Muriel Emerton, daughter of James Frederick Emerton, on 20 February 1913.¹ He died on 8 May 1937 at age 68.¹
     He held the office of Lieutenant for the City of London.¹ He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)² He was created 1st Baronet Ritchie, of Lees House, co. Kent [U.K.] on 23 January 1918.¹

     Ada Bevan ap Rees Bryant is the daughter of Edward Bevan ap Rees Bryant.¹ She married Sir James William Ritchie, 1st Bt., son of Sir James Thomson Ritchie, 1st and last Bt., on 20 July 1898.¹ She and Sir James William Ritchie, 1st Bt. were divorced in 1912.¹
     From 20 July 1898, her married name became Ritchie.¹

     Edward Bevan ap Rees Bryant lived at Barnet, Hertfordshire, England.¹

     Edna Muriel Emerton was the daughter of James Frederick Emerton.¹ She married Sir James William Ritchie, 1st Bt., son of Sir James Thomson Ritchie, 1st and last Bt., on 20 February 1913.¹ She died on 29 November 1951.¹
     From 20 February 1913, her married name became Ritchie.¹

     James Frederick Emerton lived at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.¹

     Patrick John Emerton Ritchie was born on 12 January 1914.¹ He was the son of Sir James William Ritchie, 1st Bt. and Edna Muriel Emerton.¹ He married Alison Crawford Porter, daughter of Dr. Charles Porter, on 27 August 1942.¹ He died in June 1943 at age 29, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the Squadron Leader, Royal Air Force.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.) in 1943.¹

     Alison Crawford Porter is the daughter of Dr. Charles Porter.¹ She married Patrick John Emerton Ritchie, son of Sir James William Ritchie, 1st Bt. and Edna Muriel Emerton, on 27 August 1942.¹
     She was registered as a Member, Royal College of Physicians, London (M.R.C.P.)¹ She was registered as a Licentiate, Royal College of Physicians, London (L.R.C.P.)¹ From 27 August 1942, her married name became Ritchie.¹
