     George Western Gipps was born circa 1832 at Hereford, Herefordshire, England.1 He was the son of Reverend Henry Gipps and Emma Maria Plumptre.1 He married Charlotte Stanfield, daughter of Thomas Wolrich Stanfield and Anne Briggs.1 He died on 12 July 1890 at Nelson, New Zealand.1
