     James Gordon, 9th of Pitlurg was baptised on 24 February 1707 at St. Nicholas, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of John Gordon, 2nd of Colliestion, 1st of Hilton and Margaret Dowell.3 He married Barbara Cuming, daughter of Robert Cuming, on 21 September 1731 at Scotland.1,3,2 He died in 1755.1

     From 21 September 1731, her married name became Gordon.1
