Rt. Rev. George Augustus Selwyn was born on 5 April 1809 at Church Row, Hampstead, London, England.1 He was the son of William Selwyn and Laetitia Frances Kynaston.1 He married Sarah Harriet Richardson, daughter of Sir John Richardson, on 25 June 1839.1 He died on 11 April 1878 at age 69.1
He was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at St. John’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Bishop of New Zealand between 1841 and 1868.1 He graduated in 1842 with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)1 He held the office of Bishop of Lichfield between 1868 and 1878.1
