     Captain George Trigge Greenland was born on 28 March 1802 at Rottingdean, Sussex, England.1 He was the son of Reverend Thomas Redman Hooker and Emma Jane Greenland.1 He married Matilda Elliott Swete, daughter of Reverend John Swete and Charlotte Beaumont, on 4 September 1828.2 He died on 10 November 1860 at age 58.1
     He was given the name of George Trigge Hooker at birth.1 On 25 August 1820 his name was legally changed to George Trigge Greenland by Royal Licence.2
