He fought in the Boer War in 1900.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for East Sussex between 1909 and 1923.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 11th Reserve Regimental Cavalry.1

Warwick [E., 1641] on 9 September 1937.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 15th Hussars.2 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.2 He gained the rank of Major in the 15th/19th Hussars.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Shropshire between 1940 and 1941.2
