     Philip John Lancelot Skinner was born on 23 January 1894.¹ He was the son of Major Charles Lancelot Andrews Skinner and Lady Sara Kathleen Ponsonby.¹ He died on 1 January 1915 at age 20, killed in action when H.M.S. Formidable was struck on patrol in the English Channel.¹
     He gained the rank of Midshipman in the Royal Navy.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹
