     Haldane Burney Rattray was born on 13 May 1870 at Tunbridge, Kent, England.¹ He was the son of Colonel Thomas Rattray and Harriet Penelope Hare.¹ He married Ethel Marguerite Piper on 23 August 1905 at St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster, London, England.¹ He died on 1 February 1917 at age 46 at Iraq, killed in action.¹

     Harriet Penelope Hare was born in 1833 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ She married Colonel Thomas Rattray on 22 July 1852 at St. John’s Church, Wynberg, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ She died on 3 November 1905 at East Sheen, London, England.¹
     From 22 July 1852, her married name became Rattray.¹

     unknown Stirling was the son of Sir James Stirling, 4th of Keir and 1st of Cawder and Janet Stirling.¹ He died, without issue.²

     Margaret Napier was the daughter of Archibald Napier, 1st Lord Napier of Merchistoun and Lady Margaret Graham.¹ She married Sir George Stirling, 6th of Keir and 3rd of Cawder, son of Sir James Stirling and Anna Home, in 1637.¹ She died, without issue.¹
