     He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers.¹

     Hon. John Michael Inigo Cross was born on 23 March 1923.² He was the son of Richard Assheton Cross, 2nd Viscount Cross and Maud Evelyn Inigo Jones.² He married Sybil Anne Murray, daughter of Major Thomas Prain Douglas Murray and Sybil Enid Clayton, on 15 April 1950.² He died on 2 February 1951 at age 27.²

     Sybil Anne Murray was the daughter of Major Thomas Prain Douglas Murray and Sybil Enid Clayton.¹ She married, firstly, Hon. John Michael Inigo Cross, son of Richard Assheton Cross, 2nd Viscount Cross and Maud Evelyn Inigo Jones, on 15 April 1950.¹ She married, secondly, Lt.-Cdr. James Parker-Jervis, son of George Parker-Jervis and Ruth Alice Farmer, on 7 April 1956.¹ She died on 1 July 2005.²
     Her married name became Cross. From 7 April 1956, her married name became Parker-Jervis.¹

     Major Thomas Prain Douglas Murray married Sybil Enid Clayton, daughter of Major Thomas Clayton.
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)¹ He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)¹ He lived at Templewood, Brechin, Angus, Scotland^G.¹

     Sybil Enid Clayton is the daughter of Major Thomas Clayton.¹ She married Major Thomas Prain Douglas Murray.
     Her married name became Murray.

     Major Thomas Clayton lived at Swettenham Hall, Cheshire, England^G.¹ He lived at Saltersford Hall, Cheshire, England^G.¹

     Mary Beatrice Cross was born posthumously on 18 April 1951.² She is the daughter of Hon. John Michael Inigo Cross and Sybil Anne Murray.^1,2 She married Sir Alexander Maule Jardine of Applegirth, 12th Bt., son of Sir William Edward Jardine of Applegirth, 11th Bt. and Ann Graham Maitland, on 9 October 1982.¹
     From 9 October 1982, her married name became Jardine.¹ She lived in 2003 at Ash House, Thwaites, Millom, Cumbria, England^G.²

     Hon. Idonea Mary Ellice Cross was born on 30 November 1918.¹ She was the daughter of Richard Assheton Cross, 2nd Viscount Cross and Maud Evelyn Inigo Jones.¹ She married Lt.-Col. William Preston Ashton Shuttleworth, son of Captain William Gabbett Ashton Shuttleworth and Constance Ester Sophia Preston, on 19 November 1946.¹ She died in 1994.¹
     Her married name became Shuttleworth.

     Lt.-Col. William Preston Ashton Shuttleworth was born on 22 May 1915.² He was the son of Captain William Gabbett Ashton Shuttleworth and Constance Ester Sophia Preston.¹ He married Hon. Idonea Mary Ellice Cross, daughter of Richard Assheton Cross, 2nd Viscount Cross and Maud Evelyn Inigo Jones, on 19 November 1946.¹ He died in 1994.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Norfolk Regiment and Royal Corps of Transport.¹

     Captain William Gabbett Ashton Shuttleworth was born on 8 July 1883.¹ He was the son of Colonel Ashton John Shuttleworth and Elizabeth Ellen Gabbett.¹ He married Constance Ester Sophia Preston, daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Edward Preston and Mary Row Mare, on 21 November 1911.² He died on 19 May 1968 at age 84.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.² He lived at Oak Lodge, Aylsham, Norfolk, England^G.³
